tl;dr, the post has a link to a video demonstrating our LLM powered data modeling via Voicebox in Stardog Designer. you describe your ontology, Voicebox builds it.
I haven't checked it out yet, but this sounds very very cool. Using natural language to describe language is a capability most of us use every day.
we've found most SME's are quite good at describing their domain, and quite poor translating it to an ontology. that skill gap can prevent or slow adoption of technology that can otherwise provide tremendous value. we're trying to eliminate that
That sounds great but I am quite doubtful this can be useful for actually developing an ontology that will be used in production. I haven't seen your tool but would be delighted to see a convincing demo!
in my experience, it's the complicated ontologies that never find their way to production systems. 馃檪 but yes, expressivity is limited, tho that's more a consequence of what Designer supports than what Voicebox can handle. Designer is meant to build stuff that's in the sweet spot for our Platform. It's not a general purpose modeling tool, and is not intended to replace Protege. Our Voicebox capabilities in Designer will also go beyond modeling and take advantage of the Data Catalogs w/in the data ecosystem, find and recommend new data sources for new KGs as you build the models. It's been powering our mapping generation service for awhile now. So we're not purely focused on modeling.
I agree with complicated ontologies and production do not necessarily go well together but this was not what I was suggesting. Anyways, looking forward to a convincing demo goin beyond the classical Student takes Course example
I also agree that pure ontology editing without mapping to data is of limited use. A modern KG tool should take as input your data sources and output ontology + mappings
happy to show a demo, tho, we're pushing to get this into production asap.
