This from University of Edinburgh: We have openings for two graph database positions in Edinburgh, specifically to work on the new standard GQL (Graph Query Language), currently developed by ISO. There are more details in the dbworld post https://lnkd.in/ePmEPdb or if you are interested (or know someone who is interested) please contact me directly. This is done in close collaboration with Neo4j, ISO, and LDBC.

yes, SPARQL is a W3C standard. Here's one comparison...: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/50063202/what-is-the-difference-between-graphql-and-sparql/50068361#:~:text=Graphql%20and%20Sparql%20are%20different,using%20AI%20in%20your%20application.

graphql is used by facebook and a few graph databases as an API layer (it can be also wrapped around REST API) think about it as a next level REST API (despite the name it had nothing to do with graph db at the beginning)
